The Library is home to all official records and documents relating to the history of the McCarten family.  For detailed information on what the five books above actually contain, please read the desriptions below.

 
A Search For Roots: by Mark McCartan- the story of Mark McCartan's research into his family history.  His focus is on the lives of Bernard McCarten (b. 1826) and his descendents.  There are also accounts of life on the McCartan farm in Pocahontas Co., Iowa, given by a relative. 
Family Files-(coming soon) This page will contain much of the miscellaneous information that we collect.  If you're having trouble finding something, try here.
US Census- (coming soon) This page will contain all information that we possess concerning information that we have collected from the US Census.  Some of the information that we have goes back to the early 1800s, and is quite voluminous, so it could be a while before it appears online.
Irish Myths & Folklore- This page contains some of the great Irish tales that have a connection to the McCartens. The first story posted was the story of the high king of Ireland,Cormac Mac Airt, who was among the first McCartens.
In the News- (coming soon) This page will contain excerpts from newspapers concerning people in the family tree.  This includes obituaries, which can prove to be an invaluable resource for those conducting genealogical research.  The amount of information that we possess continues to grow as information comes in, and we hope that it will not be too long before it is posted on the site.
